July 25, 2012 "The Next Generation of Robots — Which will soon become Cheaper than Human Labor"

As technology rushes ahead, human labor is rapidly being replaced, as this article on Forbes reads:

"...rising costs and political pressure aren’t what’s going to rapidly change the equation. The disruption will come from a set of technologies that are advancing at exponential rates and converging.

The robots of today aren’t the Androids or Cylons that we used to see in science-fiction movies, but specialized electro-mechanical devices that are controlled by software and remote controls. As computers become more powerful, so do the abilities of these devices. Robots are now capable of performing surgery, milking cows, doing military reconnaissance and combat, and flying fighter jets. And DIY’ers are lending a helping hand. There are dozens of startups, such as Willow Garage, iRobot, and 9th Sense, selling robot-development kits for university students and open-source communities. They are creating ever more-sophisticated robots and new applications for these. Watch this video of the autonomous flying robots that University of Pennsylvania professor Vijay Kumar created with his students, for example.

The factory assembly that the Chinese are performing is child’s play for the next generation of robots—which will soon become cheaper than human labor. Indeed, one of China’s largest manufacturers, Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group, announced last August that it plans to install one million robots within three years to do the work that its workers in China presently do. It found Chinese labor to be too expensive and demanding. The world’s most advanced car, the Tesla Model S, is also being manufactured in Silicon Valley, which is one of the most expensive places in the country. Tesla can afford this because it is using robots to do the assembly."

This is where the future is heading... machines replacing human labor and eliminate jobs in massive numbers. In fact, we are about to see a seismic shift in the workforce around the world. As a society, we have no way to understand or handle the level of unemployment that we will see in our collective economy. Technology will eventually do away with jobs that enable people to buy the goods turned out.

As technology does, it will advance in every field... becoming cheaper, faster and more accurate. Your job is not safe. Job security is rapidly becoming extinct. Technology can and will replace you.

We think that the monetary system is like a cancer that is eating its host and it will do away with itself in time. The mere march of events of technology will eventually do away with jobs (technological unemployment) that enable people to buy the goods turned out and new social designs will have to emerge. We feel that at that time a military dictatorship will most likely occur. The end result of this will likely be a primitive society where there is extreme human suffering. We would like to introduce the concepts of a resource-based economy to the public so they will understand that there are other possible alternatives.

Only in a resourced based economy can technology be used to serve humans and the environment. Technology in a monetary system is used to bond people, take away jobs and; enslave and control people. In a resource based economy there is no reason, motivation or incentive to use technology to abuse people or the planet.

Only when science and technologies are used with human concern in a world in which all of the earth's resources are held as the common heritage of all of the earth's people can we truly say that there is intelligent life on earth. The technologies that we present can make it possible for the global population to obtain a very high standard of living one higher than ever imagined possible.

T.V.P. & T.Z.M. Response to The Occupy Movement

The Venus Project realizes the significance of the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Together movements and offers a positive solution for their grievances.

We at The Venus Project fear that any acquiescence to the protestor’s demands will do very little if the processes that cause the problems are left in place. In this case whatever laws or regulations are made will be eventually bypassed or overturned and conditions will revert back. This has almost always been the situation historically.

We are concerned that meeting the demands of the protestors while keeping the current economic system in place will not have the desired outcome. It will merely serve to temporarily... Continue >>>
