Stop Buying Shit We Don't Need! (Occupy Wall Street Solutions)

What came first: advertising or 'human greed' to buy more and more worthless junk?

Statistics, data, and experimentation using the scientific method shows that the advertising is what conditions peoples behavior to buy more and more. We are not separate from our environment and upbringing, therefore we are victims of programming. Yet, it's a perpetuating loop. What come first the chicken or the egg is an endless debate.

The "what comes first the chicken or the egg" debates can easily be cut through by asking relevant questions, like: "were chickens always born in an egg?"

Likewise a relevant question in this debate would be "Did humans always have an apatite for more and more in every society and civilization throughout history?" If yes, then humans are naturally greedy and always want more and more. If no, then it has to be conditioned in and learned by the environment.

Of course everyone has an opinion but science answers this clearly. Yet, it is not difficult to see when looking at the Amish societies today and similar societies throughout history; it becomes obviously seen as a direct influence and indeed created out of a culture based on advertising.

If we were to remove all the factors that cause this drive for more junk, the feeling of this need would eventually dissipate as new values are learned.

Like what a resource based world economy offers; instead of having advertising which conditions people what to believe, what brand to use, what to think; there will only be informative information about new discoveries in technology, cures, inventions and all the information that helps a person to benefit in a more comfortable and humane manner. That covers anything that the whole of society would want to know about.

Whatever else people decide to do based on similar beliefs, opinions, and ideas; they are welcome. There is no control. In a resource-based economy society, there is just a value system that recognizes what reflects humanity as whole and what is only opinion and belief of a selected few or group.

However, it seems to be all interconnected. Hence you can not change the system without changing the mentality. It is ourselves that allow for the system to happen. This is exactly what Uniting Humans aims and goals are. Hence why we have the "Value Shift" video page.

An economy that produces junk that is designed to break down overtime shortly after the warranty expires, just so people will buy another (since it is actually cheaper to buy new than to replace the damaged part: purposefully also by design) and all these unethical actions just to keep the economy going; is not the definition of a true economy. It is actually an anti-economy since it produces non-recycleable  products destroying the planet and ripping it of limited resources. Instead we need a true economy with global abundance and effective sustainability.

"Once we join together and proclaim all earth’s resources as the common heritage of all people (A Resource-Based Economy), we will begin to know what it means to be civilized. Until that time we will be continuously fighting for a piece of the pie." ~The Venus Project

T.V.P. & T.Z.M. Response to The Occupy Movement

The Venus Project realizes the significance of the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Together movements and offers a positive solution for their grievances.

We at The Venus Project fear that any acquiescence to the protestor’s demands will do very little if the processes that cause the problems are left in place. In this case whatever laws or regulations are made will be eventually bypassed or overturned and conditions will revert back. This has almost always been the situation historically.

We are concerned that meeting the demands of the protestors while keeping the current economic system in place will not have the desired outcome. It will merely serve to temporarily... Continue >>>
